Troubleshooting

BALMUDA The Range

When the moisture in ingredients and cooking items heats up, vapor can form on the inner compartment or glass door. This is not a malfunction; simply wait for the inside of the case to cool, then wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, or open the door and allow it to air dry.

If the inner box is hot, be careful not to burn yourself and wait for it to cool before cleaning.

The maximum size for a cake mold is 7 inches, and the maximum size for a chiffon cake mold is 18 centimeters.

How to turn on the power:
First, open the door once to activate the power. The screen and handle light will turn on. If the door is already open, close it and then open it again.

How to turn off the power:
After cooking is complete, the power will turn off if no operation is performed within 5 minutes. If you remove food or open the door during cooking, press the cancel button and leave the machine idle for 5 minutes.
If the power does not turn off, please contact customer service.

You can use the oven mode for baking, but unlike the BALMUDA The Toaster, the microwave oven does not have a dedicated bread mode or steam function. However, you can use the oven mode for cooking, which also includes a preheating function.
If you want to bake bread that is like fresh out of the oven, we recommend using the BALMUDA The Toaster.

Place the BALMUDA The Range at a proper distance from the wall or other surfaces.

Maintain at least 15 cm of space from the top. If the back is made of glass, ensure it is at least 20 cm away from the back when installed. The walls and furniture adjacent to the sides and back can be made of heat-resistant materials.

Install it on a flat surface with sufficient strength.
If placed on an unstable table or slanted surface, it may tip over or fall, causing injury.

Be cautious to avoid tipping or falling due to earthquakes or other factors.
This could cause injury or malfunction. It is recommended to secure the product with an anti-tip device suitable for microwaves.

Keep a distance of at least 4 meters from televisions, radios, and wireless devices, as closer proximity may cause noise, image interference, or communication performance issues.

Do not use the product in a sealed environment around the exhaust vent, as this could cause overheating and lead to fire. Additionally, improper ventilation could cause wall stains, discoloration, clumping, or malfunction.

Microwave
This function uses electromagnetic waves to heat both the interior and exterior of food and beverages simultaneously. It includes automatic mode, manual mode, beverage mode, frozen rice mode, and defrost mode. Use the appropriate mode based on your needs:

  • Automatic Mode: Automatically heats room temperature or refrigerated rice, dishes, and bento meals.
For foods with specific heating instructions, follow the guidelines and use the manual heating mode.
  • Manual Mode: Used for additional heating after automatic or beverage modes. You can select specific power levels (100W, 500W, 600W, 800W) and set a time to heat room temperature or refrigerated food and soups.
  • Beverage Mode: Heats beverages like milk or coffee that are at room temperature or refrigerated.
  • Frozen Rice Mode: Heats frozen rice.
  • Defrost Mode: Defrosts or partially defrosts frozen food.

Oven
This function uses heating elements located at the top and bottom of the interior to cook food by heating its surface.

  • Preheat: Preheats the oven interior before cooking.
  • No Preheat: Allows you to cook in the oven without preheating.
  • Fermentation: An oven cooking mode used for fermenting bread and other similar recipes.

The microwave function uses electromagnetic waves to heat food. Depending on the type of food and container, the heating results may vary due to the influence of electromagnetic waves (unlike the oven function, which uses heaters for heating and cooking). If food heats slowly or unevenly when using the microwave, try the following methods:

  • Avoid heating food with shells or membranes, such as raw eggs, boiled eggs, shelled ginkgo nuts, cherry tomatoes, etc.
  • Place the food slightly further inside, away from the center of the microwave’s interior.
  • Ensure the thickness of the food is as uniform as possible.
  • Cover the ingredients and container with plastic wrap.
  • Stir soups and liquids after heating them for a certain amount of time.
  • Dense ingredients may not cook thoroughly or heat evenly. Dilute them beforehand or heat them in batches.
  • If heating feels insufficient or uneven, stop the operation, stir the food thoroughly, or rearrange it before continuing to heat.

Additionally, stacking deep containers with food can obstruct electromagnetic waves and reduce heating efficiency. We recommend spreading food as flat as possible before heating.

Example: For dishes like curry, stews, or soups, heat for a certain amount of time, remove the container, stir the contents once, and then reheat to eliminate uneven heating.

The baking trays should be placed on either the upper or lower level for cooking. Simultaneous cooking on both levels is not possible.

  • The upper level is designed for close-range heating. It is recommended for recipes that require crisping or browning the surface of the ingredients.
  • The lower level is designed for distant heating. It is ideal for evenly heating the entire dish.

Yes, cakes and bread can be baked using the oven mode.

▶ Use the “beverage” mode (P.25), set the beverage type and the number of cups correctly, fill the cups with the beverage up to 80% of their capacity, and warm up the beverage

Check whether the thickness or shape of the food is uneven.
▶ For freezing, make the thickness of the food as even as possible and place the same
types together.

Check whether the fuse has blown and whether the breaker has tripped in your house.

Check whether the power plug is disconnected.

Check whether the oven has not been operated for more than 5 minutes.
